THE IMPACT OF POVERTY ON EDUCATION
AIM : RAISE AWARENESS
INTRODUCTION
Poverty affects many aspects of society. From influencing who's in power and who's not to affecting who survives a pandemic and who sadly lacks the funds to do so. However, what is the influence of poverty on education? Does the wealth of a child's parents automatically gear them towards academic success or lack there of? We as students of global perspectives took to answer these questions by researching online about poverty and education while looking at many different perspectives. Secondly, we observed personal real time examples of two girls of around the same age and how their family's social class affects their schooling experience. We also included input from the general public around our main area of study, Kenya, to ensure a varying range of opinions, ideas and beliefs were showcased. This project aims to raise awareness on how much poverty can disadvantage students academically and all the research put forward will contribute to that.
